Endocrine glands secrete active substances called Hormones.
Lists of Endocrine glands in man and their locations-
Pituitary glands – In head
The pituitary gland, is also known as the hypophysis. It is a roundish organ that lies immediately beneath the hypothalamus
The hypothalamus is a region of the brain that controls an immense number of bodily functions.
It is composed of two distinctive parts –
One is the anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis) & the another is posterior pituitary (neurohypophysis).
* Adrenals – upper end of kidney
* Thyroid glands are found in neck
* Parathyroid – embedded on thyroid gland
* Gonads – In or below pelvic cavity
* Thymus – on either side of trachea
* Pineal gland – dorsal side of brain
* Gastric – In the wall of stomach & intestine
