Buddhism
1-The Buddha is also known by the name as Sakyamuni or Tathagata.
2- He was born in 563 BC on the Vaishakha Poornima day at Lumbini (near Kapilavastu), in Nepal.
3-Suddhodana was the father of Buddha, who was a Shakya/Sakya ruler.
4- Mother (Mahamaya, of Kosala dynasty) died after 7 days of his birth, brought up by stepmother Gautami.
5- Buddha was married at the age of 10 to Yoshodhara. Enjoyed the married life for 3 years and had a son named Rahul
6- Buddha decided to become a wanderer after seeing an old man, a sick man, a corpse and an ascetic.
7- Buddha left his palace when he was 29 years. He went in search of truth (also called Mahabhinishkramana’ or the Cheat renunciation) and wandered for 6 years.
8- Buddha attained ‘Enlightenment’ at Gaya in Magadha (Bihar) under the Pipal tree.
9- He delivered the first sermon at Samath. ‘Dharmachakra Privartana’ or ‘Turning of the wheel of Law’ is his first Sermon.
10- Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana at Kushinagar ( learnt to be identical with village Kasia in Deoria district of UP), in 483 BC at the age of 80 in the Malla republic.
