‘Khel Ratna’

India’s highest honour given for achievement in sports is ‘The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna’ (RGKR) . ‘Khel Ratna’ literally mean ‘sports gem’ in Hindi. It is named after the late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.

 It carries a medal, a scroll of honour and a substantial cash component. Up to 2004–05, the cash component was Rs. 500,000/- (c.11,500 USD).

The money has been increased from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 750,000.

Telangana Popular  Schemes

Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam

To alleviate financial distress of SC/ST families, Government decided to sanction a one-time financial assistanceof Rs.51,000/- at the time of marriage to each SC/ST girl, who is a resident of Telangana State.

Accordingly, Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam has been introduced with effect from 2nd October 2014 for unmarried Girls, who have completed 18 years of age at the time of marriage and whose parental income doesnot exceed Rs.2.00 lakh per annum.

Shaadi Mubaarak

The Government of Telangana introduced the “Shaadi Mubaarak Scheme” with effect from 2nd October, 2014 to all Minority community unmarried girls on their marriage with a view to alleviate fi nancial distress in the family. Under the Scheme, a onetime fi nancial assistance of Rs.51,000/- shall be granted to every Minority girl before the marriage, provided application is submitted at least one month in advance from the date of marriage subject to the guidelines. The amount will be credited in the bank account of the bride by way account payee cheque.
