1-Anjani Kumar, who formerly served as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), began her duties as Telangana’s new Director General of Police (DGP) on Saturday.

2-Anjani Kumar served as the DIGP of the Nizamabad and Guntur ranges as well as the SP of the Guntur and Prakasam districts. He also served as the director of the Counterintelligence Cell from 2007 to 2009 and as the commander of the Greyhounds, an anti-Maoist squad, from 2009 to 2011.

3-Prior to being named Director General of ACB, Anjani Kumar served as the police commissioner of Hyderabad from 2018 to 2021.

4-In Telangana, the overall crime rate rose by 4.44 percent in 2022.

  • The annual crime report issued by Mahender Reddy, the departing director general of police, also reveals a 57% increase in cybercrime.

5-Indian President After a five-day winter sojourn, Droupadi Murmu departed from Hakimpet airbase on Friday for New Delhi.

“A hearty send-off for the President was given at Hakimpet Airbase by Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Legislative Council Chairman G Sukhender Reddy, and Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod. Also present was Tamilisai Soundararajan, the governor.

6-The Telangana government’s decision five years ago to offer the agricultural sector a free, 24-hour power supply has begun to pay off and is assisting farmers in switching from traditional rainfed systems to irrigated agriculture and increasing production, food security, and livelihood opportunities.

7-Since the Telangana administration began providing free 24-hour power to the State’s 2.3 million farmers on January 1, 2018, agricultural productivity and farmer revenue have dramatically increased in the State.

8- Telangana is the only State in the union that continuously provides free electricity to the agricultural industry. Due to the provision of ongoing free electricity, the number of agricultural connections in the State has increased over the past five years from 19.03 lakh to around 27.18 lakh.

9-On July 17, 2017, the state government began providing 24X7 power on a trial basis in the formerly Medak, Nalgonda, and Karimnagar districts. On November 6, 2017, 23 lakh pump sets in the state received 24X7 power on an experimental basis, and on December 31, 2018, the free power programme was officially launched.

10-To provide a high-quality and consistent supply of electricity to all sectors, the Telangana State government invested Rs 37,911 crore to upgrade the distribution network and Rs 36,890 crore on free electricity for farmers over the previous eight years. In addition to other subsidies, the state government was paying Rs. 10,000 crore each year to deliver power to the agricultural industry.
