- On Wednesday, the Telangana High Court declined to halt the Kamareddy municipal master plan.
- The high court declined to issue an interim order to halt the proposal after hearing a plea from farmers who opposed the draught master plan.
- Farmers have been protesting the master plan for the past month, pleading for their agricultural lands to be excluded from the proposed green zone and industrial zone.
- Last week, they stepped up their protest after a farmer, Payyavula Ramulu (40), killed himself out of fear of losing his farmland.

- Manikrao Thakare, the newly designated AICC in-charge for Telangana, came in Hyderabad on Wednesday for the first time.
- At Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, he was welcomed by A. Revanth Reddy, president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), and other politicians.
- Amidst internal strife in the party’s state unit, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) named Thakare as the new in-charge on January 4.

5-The January 19 visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hyderabad has been postponed.
- He was expected to travel to the area to inaugurate or lay the cornerstone for a number of additional projects as well as flag off the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat train.
- The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy of the postponement on Wednesday.

6-On Tuesday, Somesh Kumar, the Telangana Chief Secretary, was fired by the state government by the Union Department for Personnel and Training (DoPT), just hours after the Telangana High Court invalidated the IAS officer’s appointment to the state cadre.
- The relieving orders will go into effect right away. Somesh Kumar must join the Andhra Pradesh government by January 12 at the latest.
7-Five family members, including three women, were killed on Tuesday in Telangana’s Siddipet area after the car they were riding in slammed into a canal.
- On the boundaries of Munigadapa hamlet in Jagdevpur mandal, a car carrying six people crashed into the KLIS Canal close to Mallanna Temple.

8- The largest life sciences and healthcare meeting in Asia, BioAsia 2023, is set to take place the following month and will cover the lessons learned, obstacles to overcome, and possibilities in life science following COVID-19.
- The Telangana government is hosting the 20th edition of BioAsia, the premier healthcare and life sciences conference, which will feature notable government officials, business executives, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The conference’s theme is “Advancing for ONE: Shaping the next generation of humanised healthcare.”

9- Ambassador Beth Jones, the U.S. Charge d’Affaires, announced on Tuesday a $250,000 U.S. government effort to aid in the preservation and restoration of Hyderabad’s Paigah tombs.
- Announcing the project to support the protection and repair of six tombs constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries, Ambassador Jones visited the Paigah tombs complex.
10-On January 18, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will hold its first public assembly in Khammam, where Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to present the party’s national platform.
- Since Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) changed its name to BRS to enter into national politics, the state’s ruling party has been making preparations for a significant mobilisation of people for the meeting.

11-With the addition of former IAS official Thota Chandrasekhar, former IRS officer Chintala Partha Sarathi, and former minister Ravela Kishore Babu, BRS declared its entry into Andhra Pradesh on January 2. Chandrasekhar was chosen by KCR to lead the BRS in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
12-On January 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the Vande Bharat train from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam.
- This train will stop in Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry at intermediate stations.
- The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation and lay the cornerstone for multiple projects totaling more than Rs 7,000 crore during his visit to Telangana, according to an announcement made on Monday by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy.
