Telangana State – A Brief Report
1-It is the 29th state of India and was formed in June 2014, with Hyderabad as its capital.
2-The state is land locked by (new) Andhra Pradesh to the south and east, Maharashtra and Karnataka to the west, and Odisha and Chhattisgarh to the north.
3-Geographical Area (sq km) of Telangana : 114,840 and Telugu, Hindi and English are state languages.
4-At a CAGR of 14.1 per cent, services has been the fastest growing sector among agriculture, industry and services from 2004-05 to 2014-15.
5-During 2014-15, export of IT products of Telangana was US$ 10.99 billion which reflects a growth of 15.7 per cent as compared to previous year.
6-Hyderabad accounts for approximately 20 per cent of India’s total pharma exports.
7-The central government recently announced formation of an Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) near Hyderabad.
8-The Telangana government plans to generate 1.5 million direct and 5.3 million indirect jobs in the IT sector in the next five years.
9- Leading IT companies like Facebook, Google, IBM and Microsoft hold significant presence in Hyderabad.
10-Telangana’s gross state domestic product (GSDP) expanded at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.5 per cent to US$ 71.1 billion between 2004-05 and 2014-15.
