International Yoga Day 2023: Theme, Significance and History

Every year on June 21st, International Yoga Day 2023 is observed to raise awareness of the many advantages of yoga practise. The day of the year with the longest length in the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice, falls on the selected date. This day is an opportunity to spread the word about yoga’s all-encompassing approach to wellness. It emphasises the significance of finding balance in our hectic, contemporary life and promotes harmony on all levels—physical, mental, and spiritual. Yoga promotes stress reduction, awareness, and general health and vigour.

On June 21, at the UN headquarters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the ninth annual International Day of Yoga. The Prime Minister will lead a yoga class at this location for the first time ever.
