Kalyana Lakshmi- Know About Telangana Scheme
The Government of Telangana has implemented a welfare scheme known as the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme, also referred to as Shaadi Mubarak, which aims to provide financial assistance for marriages. This novel scheme is intended to support financially distressed families and prevent child marriages in the state.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries are provided with a financial aid of ₹1,00,116 to cover the expenses of the wedding ceremony. Since its launch on 2 October 2014 by Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme has benefitted a total of 3,90,000 individuals by March 2018.
Initially, the scheme provided Rs51,000 to families belonging to scheduled castes and tribes. However, it was later extended to all poor families in the state. The financial assistance was subsequently increased to ₹1,00,116 on 19 March 2018, up from the previous amount of ₹75,116.
The budget allocated for the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme in 2018-19 was ₹1450 crores, while in 2020-21, it was ₹1350 crores. The scheme continues to serve as a lifeline for financially vulnerable families and helps them celebrate their children’s weddings with dignity and joy.
To be eligible for the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme, a Telangana resident girl must be over 18 years old and belong to any community.
Her parents’ combined annual income should not exceed ₹2 lakh.
Additionally, the Scheme extends to Muslim girls from poor families and is known as “Shaadi Mubarak.”
The government provides financial assistance ten days prior to the wedding.

The Scheme is a financial assistance program for marriage administered by the Government of Telangana.
Chief Minister Sh. Kalvakunta Chandrashekar Rao launched the scheme on 2nd October 2014, with the main objective of helping brides from poor families in the state.
Initially, the assistance amount was Rs. 51,000/-. But in 2017, it was increased to Rs. 75,116/-.
In 2018, the amount was again revised, and the present amount given to brides as financial assistance for their marriage is Rs. 1,00,116/-.
Under this scheme, only girls belonging to Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, Backward Classes, and Economically Backward Classes are eligible.
To be eligible for the Scheme, the girl should be a resident of Telangana State, over 18 years of age, and belong to one of the following communities: Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, Backward Class, or Economically Backward Class. Additionally, there is an income limit for girls belonging to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe, with an annual family income limit of Rs. 2,00,000/-. For Backward Classes and Economically Backward Classes, the annual income limit is Rs. 2,00,000/- in urban areas and Rs. 1,50,000/- in rural areas.

The Government of Telangana provides financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,116/- (One Lakh One Hundred Sixteen Rupees) for the marriage of eligible girls.

Visit the official ePASS portal.
Click on “New Registration” and fill in the required details in the registration form.
Features of the Scheme:
The Tehsildar will verify all the applications received and allocate them to the Village Revenue Officer for initial verification.
The Village Revenue Officer will conduct a field inquiry and check the eligibility of the beneficiary based on factors such as location/address, income criteria, Aadhaar card details, caste certificate, parental income, and marital status.
After verifying all the details, the Village Revenue Officer will forward the application to the concerned Tehsildar by uploading their comments.
The Tehsildar will approve the application with their digital signature and biometric authentication, and the application will be jointly signed by the MLA concerned.
The signed copy will be uploaded online for clearance of cheques.
The financial assistance cheque will be issued in the name of the mother of the beneficiary.
