1-The word Upanishad is a combination of the two Sanskrit word, i.e. upa and nishad which means to sit down near someone (in this context, the Guru)
2-Jesh, Kath, Ken, Mandukya, Brihadaranyka, Mundaka, Chhandogya, Taittiriya, Aitareya, and Kaushitiki are some important Upanishads out of 108 Upanishads in total.
3-Several learned saints have composed the Upanishads in between 800 and 500 B.C
4- ‘Satyameva Jayate’ word has been taken from the Mundaka Upanishad.
5-Shiksha, Kalpa, Vyakarana, Nirukta, Chhanda, and Jyotisha are the six vedangas that were composed in the later Vedic period.

18-Smriti means remembrance and these are treatises of the Vedas.
19-There are six famous smiritis.
20- Smiritis are Manu Smriti of a pre-Gupta period, Yajnvalkya Smriti of Pre-Gupta period, Parashara Smriti of Gupta period, Narad Smriti of Gupta period, Katyayana Smriti of Gupta period, Brihaspati Smriti of Gupta period.
21-There are 18 ‘Puranas’. Matsya Purana is the oldest Puran.
