Economic Committees

1-Goswami Committee

a- Constituted in 1990 for Proposals on electoral reforms. It was headed by late Shri Dinesh Goswami.

2-Hazari Committee

a- It was constituted to review the Industrial Licensing System under Industries Development and Regulation Act, 1951.

b- It was headed by Dr. R. K. Hazari and the committee submitted its report in 1967.

3-Mahalanobis Committee

a- It was constituted in 1949 to review the distribution of Income and levels of living. The committee was chaired by Prof. PC Mahalanobis, whereas Dr. Gadgil and Dr. VKRV Rao were its members.

b- The committee submitted its first report in 1951.

4-Wanchoo Committee

a-N. N. Wanchoo has headed the committee to examine legal and administrative measures and giving suggestions for countering evasion and avoidance of direct taxes.

b- The committee had recommended the demonetization of high-value currency notes.

5-R V Gupta Committee

a- It was constituted in December 1997 and headed by R V Gupta.

b- The committee is meant for giving suggestions to the commercial Banks in increasing flow of credit to agriculture.

6-Malhotra Committee

a- The committee headed by R N Malhotra has submitted its first report in 1994.

b- Constituted in 1993, the committee was aimed to recommend reforms in the insurance sector.

7-Rangarajan Committee

a-It was constituted in 1993 and the committee was headed by Dr. C. Rangarajan.

b- The committee looked after the disinvestment.

c- The Committee has submitted its report in June 2014.

8-Swaminathan Committee

a- The committee was constituted in 2004 and it was headed by Prof. MS Swaminathan.

b- Constituted to address the nationwide calamity of farmers suicides in India.

c- The committee has submitted five reports during the period December 2004 – October 2006.
